Gay New Yorkers One Step Closer to Becoming Straight

Gay marriage has been legalized in New York. OK fine.

Does this diminish the straight marriages that have existed there for over 200 years? No. But does this “landmark legislation” in any way propel gay people in New York into “normal” status.

Sadly, no.

And there is my problem.

Forty years ago, gay rights advocates were simply promoting an “equal” life meaning: not getting bashed in the head, spit upon, or hanged from the highest gallows for simply walking down the street. Those early advocates, like Dr. Martin Luther King with black rights, actually had a valid point and a good cause. Today, in 2011, “gay rights advocates” have simply run out of ammunition. They keep fighting for a cause when there is no longer a cause to fight for. It’s instinctual. The checkered past of this country has been corrected, long ago, and that absolutely befuddles them.

It reminds me of General George Patton, an absolute one-man war machine, whose entire existence was born to destroy the enemy. Like a plastic wind-up toy found in a Happy Meal long before it became a choking hazard or encouraged childhood obesity, simply wind him up, set him on the table and watch him do his thing. When he runs out of juice, wind him up again. Repeat as necessary.

“Gay Rights” in itself is a joke of a term simply because gay people, like all minorities, actually have more laws on the books protecting them than, say, Sean Hannity - a straight, white, male Christian conservative.

Few people are actually against lawfully acknowledging the union of gay couples. In fact, treating gay people as anything less than equal citizens actually undermines the notion that we live in a free country. But to allow them “gay marriage” as opposed to the absolutely equal “gay union” is not only an issue of copyright infringement, but a crisis of identity.

It seems gay people are not content with living next door to their straight neighbors in a symbol of equality. They want to move in with them, change their names, take over the kids’ bedroom, sit at the dinner table, carve the turkey, and smoke a pipe next to Fido.

My argument is simply this: “Gay Rights” today has turned the corner onto an unhealthy dead end road of “equality” that ultimately ends at the moment they, despite fighting for the cause and winning the battle, wake up one morning and realize they just aren’t straight. Nor should they want to be.

In New York they celebrate. Good for them. Let’s just see where the plastic wind-up toy marches to next.

The Evidence of God

Stephen Hawking recently wrote an article for the Wall Street Journal proclaiming he knows “Why God Did Not Create the Universe”. Of course, Hawking is merely hawking his new book, The Grand Design, but all his chatter about multiverses appearing spontaneously and adhering to M-theory sounds more like Patchouli incense intoxication combined with a few too many bong hits passed around a Berkeley dorm room.

The scientific community’s aggressive push toward their Godless agenda has for decades been the centerpiece of the Democrat-Socialist movement obsessed with replacing our spiritual lord with pagan and political icons. Much to the chagrin of the political class, God — like marijuana — is not a source of taxation and therefore cannot be regulated.

The following article is not intended to be offensive or blasphemous, but was written in hope that one day scientists will be given the golden scepters they deserve: reclassification as “Semi-Gods”. Just as Pluto (sitting on the outer edges of the solar system as it always has) was recently reclassified as a “dwarf planet”, changing titles in no way affects the object itself but merely affects the way we view it. The scientific community perpetually seeking to disprove the existence of God will never change course until scientists with high IQs (such as Einstein and Hawking) and agenda-driven politicians (such as Al Gore) are reclassified as “Godlike” in smarts.

The reclassification of Narcissistic smart people will herald a new dawn of religious fervor…

The Evidence of God

The origin of human beings questioning the existence of God might be traced back to the first cave dweller who gazed upon the moon. Today, as I ponder, I have the benefit of incorporating into my thoughts a multitude of scientific facts generated by thousands of great minds before me who in turn, but admittedly with far greater intellect, had built their own knowledge from earlier masters like brick upon brick. My own knowledge — without studying the books written by the scientists and philosophers — would probably be no greater than the cave dweller’s, but my place in the advancement of human intelligence over the past 200,000 years gives me a far greater advantage.

Those who do not believe in God’s existence, Atheists and agnostics, to this day cannot produce the scientific evidence to support their claim. Likewise, those who believe in an almighty God similar to the one depicted by various religions around the world have yet to provide a single shred of solid evidence since the inception of organized religion. The result of these two polar opposite schools of thinking has been the cause of many heated debates over the past two millennia which continue to this day in stalemate.

The theory of abiogenesis, or the origin of life from non-living substances, is not a proven fact at this time, yet continues to progress as scientists in 2002 created a viral substance from non-living matter that was powerful enough to kill laboratory mice. One day scientists may be able to unlock the secrets to the origins of life that will explain how civilization came from non-living substances. If they succeed, they still do not disprove God’s existence. Perhaps they will simply be justifying it.

In 1964, the Soviet astronomer Nikolai Kardashev first introduced a general method for classifying intelligent civilizations. Type I civilizations, he proposed, could harness all the power of a single planet. Type II civilizations could harness all the power of a star. Type III civilizations, Kardashev suggested, could harness all the power of a galaxy. Regardless of the details of this scale, the basic point of his theory illustrating the advancement of civilization brings to mind the scientific fact that, aside from catastrophic events that might bring about our extinction, human beings are on course to becoming God-like in power and intelligence.

Science fiction has shown us the fantastic possibilities of the universe through great theorists such as Carl Sagan who pondered the possibility of a civilization millions of years more advanced than our own. How about the possibility of billions? Earth is generally believed to be 4.5 billion years old in a universe that has existed for 13.7 billion years. Great civilizations might have existed long before Earth was formed.

Perhaps, those civilizations are God.

At some point in time, humans may cease to die due to the advancements in medical and scientific technology, but regardless of our fate as individuals, as a collective whole we can be immortal. With our ability to harness the power of the entire galaxy, perhaps we will also possess the ability to create new life forms in galaxies beyond the Milky Way. The possibilities are endless, but the combination of intelligence plus time is a simple mathematical certainty.

Regardless of the advancement of humankind, the final hurdle to overcome in the progress of immortality is the death of the universe. Philosopher Bertrand Russell once noted, “All the labors of the ages, all the devotion, all the inspiration, all the noonday brightness of human genius, are destined to extinction in the vast death of the solar system, and the whole temple of Man’s achievement must inevitably be buried beneath the debris of a universe in ruins”.

Perhaps, this does not have to be.

Beyond Nikolai Kardashev’s Type III civilization, according to math, would be Type IV and Type V and beyond to the power of infinity. Somewhere in that timeline of advancing civilization is intelligence that today we can only perceive as God. It is intelligence beyond our current comprehension. Perhaps we will even harness the power to escape a dying universe. Or simply create a new one.

The only way to know whether or not God exists is through scientific fact. Anything less is merely faith.

The evidence of God… is us.

The liberal media, as usual, is doing everything in its power to diminish the crowd estimates for Glenn Beck’s “Restoring Honor” rally held at the Lincoln Memorial 47 years after Dr. Martin Luther King used the same backdrop to deliver his legendary “I Have a Dream” speech. In nearly 40 years time on this planet, and in this country, I have witnessed repeatedly the rise and fall of political power steering this country both to the liberal left and the conservative right year after year. The country that elected conservative President Ronald Reagan to two landslide victories — is the same country that elected President Barack Obama, the first black, and most liberal president into office.

But the primary reason I stand by my conservative principles most, is that under a limited federal and strengthened state government system, I acknowledge that my particular ideas for the direction of this country are not necessarily the same ideas that you may have.

It’s that simple. I respect your right to live the way you want to.

Under a conservative limited federal government blueprint, the good people of Massachusetts have every right to live under state-controlled Romneycare, for example, whereas the good people of Tennessee are allowed the right to pass on such a plan.

In a country with a conservative limited federal government, you are always free to pack your belongings and move to a place that reflects your particular taste — and still remain an American.

The liberal idea of an overpowering federal government doesn’t allow such freedom.

Because a Liberal Democrat feels the need to grant over-arching powers to the federal level, every idea that he or she conceives is inflicted upon the entire nation whether we like it or not.

Suddenly, if we find ourselves disliking the direction our nation is taking us, we have no choice but to pack our belongings and move to another country. And given the fact that the United States is the first and last bastion of freedom — that won’t be an easy task.

Kirsten Powers deserves an A+ in stupidity.

Finally, an elitist New York liberal posing as a “journalist” has written a piece, The GOP’s Long, Hot, Racist Summer, that manages to get every single topic wrong about the GOP’s stance on a slew of current issues ranging from illegal immigrants to voter intimidation to interracial marriage and racism.

Let me begin by saying that Ms. Powers, writer for the New York Post and author of this monstrosity, would no doubt consider me a sexist for disagreeing with her. Never mind the validity of my arguments, she is a woman and I am not. Therefore, any Liberal reading this should stop immediately and simply brand me a sexist. Those are your marching orders set forth by the current Liberal mindset. Had I been a Buddhist, naturally I would harbor religious intolerance as well.

Powers opens her piece with the sentence “Welcome to the summer of hate” just as I opened with “Kirsten Powers deserves an A+ in stupidity.” Typical “media hack” brainwashing. (Never mind the details — push the agenda.) She writes by presenting the judgment against the defendants first (always Republicans), casually scribbles a few words about the case itself, and conveniently refrains from providing even a shred of evidence to support her argument. Here is an excellent example:

In a rambling Facebook post, the former Alaska governor asked incredulously: “Does anyone seriously believe that Dr. Laura Schlessinger is a racist?”

Why, yes, Sarah. Yes, we do.

Had I written this in a high school English class, no doubt my teacher would have asked: “How is the Facebook post rambling? Give me an example. Why is it incredulous to doubt Dr. Laura is a racist?”

Also, it is interesting to note that by dismissing Dr. Laura as a racist without bothering to provide a substantial argument against her, Ms. Powers not only proves that she is willing to destroy someone’s life with the snap of the fingers (Dr. Laura), but she is also willing to take down someone else’s life for merely defending her (Sarah Palin).

Ms. Powers continues:

This incident is instructive, because it bears the hallmark of many GOP blunders in the area of race. Palin truly cannot understand why anyone would think that Dr. Laura is racist, or why Palin’s defense of her is disgusting. In Palin’s world, apparently this kind of behavior is acceptable, which tells us quite a bit, actually.

In Palin’s world, Dr. Laura is a victim.

(Wink, wink. Read: Sarah Palin is a racist too.)

Again, my English teacher would be pulling her hair out over this paragraph: “What incident? What exactly was said? Who started it? What were the intentions? Which GOP blunders? Tells us quite a bit about what? Why is defending someone disgusting? What is Palin’s world?”

Details do not seem important to Ms. Powers.

Notice I did not write, “Details aren’t important to Ms. Powers”? Unlike most media hacks, I do not pretend to be a scholar on all things Kirsten Powers, I do not wish to destroy her life, and I do not believe my agenda is more important than the truth. I also understand the power of word choice.

Another Powers oversight is explaining the context in which Dr. Laura used the “N-word”. Of course, Dr. Laura did not refer to her black caller as an “N-word”. She was merely explaining that the word is used all the time in black culture and can be heard readily on programs shown on HBO.

She was simply stating a fact.

Dr. Laura’s mistake, of course, was using the word generally to describe what others are saying verbatim. You see, in today’s world of hysterical political correctness, when a white person forgets to add the “quotation marks” while using the “N-word”, then of course the word is ascribed to her.

As is the “racist” brand.

Next on Ms. Powers’ agenda to accuse Republicans of being racist is the New Black Panther voter intimidation scandal:

It’s the same world in which a single incident in a single voting precinct in Philadelphia in 2008 has become a rallying cry among conservatives who see black racism against white people lurking behind every bush.

The obsession is focused on two members of the “New Black Panther Party” who stood outside a majority black voting precinct and got into an argument with some white Republican “poll watchers” whom they called “crackers.” One NBP member was holding a billy club. The “New Black Panther Party,” which has no relation to the original, denounced the two men. Conservatives complain that if they had been Ku Klux Klan members, liberals would be screaming.

Here is a little history lesson: When the KKK showed up at a polling station in the South, black people would have rejoiced if the worst thing that happened to them was name-calling. The KKK came for one reason: to torture and kill blacks, which they did by the thousands.

Arguably, the Jena Six beating was a single incident that became a rallying cry among liberals who see white racism against black people lurking behind every tree.

According to Ms. Powers (who never justifies the actions of the New Black Panther Party members), because the KKK was wrong in the past, we should overlook the New Black Panther Party being wrong today. As a child, an early lesson I learned was that “two wrongs don’t make a right.”

Perhaps Ms. Powers should learn that lesson as well.

It is worth noting that you hardly ever hear Gingrich or any high-profile Republican complaining about racism in America unless they are accusing a black or brown person of doing something racist to a white person.

Ms. Powers then spills her barrel of ink on Michael Savage:

They don’t get upset when talk-radio host Michael Savage, who reaches 8 million listeners a week, says things like this: “The scourge of illegal immigrants… are running rampant across America, killing our police for sport, raping, murdering like a scythe across America. The Statue of Liberty is crying, she’s been raped and disheveled. Raped and disheveled by illegal aliens!”

It really makes you wonder where anyone got the idea that some of the supporters of Arizona’s illegal-immigration law were racist.

Gang violence in America is a fact. Illegal immigration is a fact. I seriously doubt President Obama’s decision to send the National Guard to Arizona’s border is being misconstrued by Democrats as racist.

Finally, Ms. Powers weighs in on the mosque controversy:

It seems obvious that the builders aren’t radicals, not only because the Bush administration worked with them in 2003, but also because if they were, it would be a problem for them to build anywhere, let alone Lower Manhattan. Moving a “terrorist command center” 15 to 20 blocks would hardly make it acceptable.

Let’s be honest: The problem is they are Muslims.

No, Ms. Powers. It isn’t.

I think Charles Krauthammer has explained it best:

When we speak of Ground Zero as hallowed ground, what we mean is that it belongs to those who suffered and died there — and that such ownership obliges us, the living, to preserve the dignity and memory of the place, never allowing it to be forgotten, trivialized or misappropriated.

That’s why Disney’s 1993 proposal to build an American history theme park near Manassas Battlefield was defeated by a broad coalition that feared vulgarization of the Civil War (and that was wiser than me; at the time I obtusely saw little harm in the venture). It’s why the commercial viewing tower built right on the border of Gettysburg was taken down by the Park Service. It’s why, while no one objects to Japanese cultural centers, the idea of putting one up at Pearl Harbor would be offensive.

And why Pope John Paul II ordered the Carmelite nuns to leave the convent they had established at Auschwitz. He was in no way devaluing their heartfelt mission to pray for the souls of the dead. He was teaching them a lesson in respect: This is not your place; it belongs to others. However pure your voice, better to let silence reign.

President Obama has stated that we need to have an open dialogue on race relations in America. So has Eric Holder. So have many Americans. Perhaps some in both political parties are guilty in some ways of being over-protective of specific race groups when they should be protective of everyone equally.

Kirsten Powers deserves an A+ in stupidity for her myopic and inflammatory article. Political warfare is not the way to improve race relations and once again shows the American people that the prevalent “us vs. them” mentality of America’s two-party system, supported by a biased media, is actually the primary obstacle that stands in the way of us ever achieving our National Dream.

Shadowland: The End of the Line On President Obama’s Underground Railroad

To hear President Obama speaking ad nauseum of the messes he inherited from George W. Bush, one might easily confuse the current president’s situation with Harry Truman’s. Unlike Lyndon Johnson who ran for the presidency in 1960 but settled for second place, Harry Truman never vied for the office and perhaps never desired it.

Truman was belatedly chosen to run on the ticket with Franklin D. Roosevelt in the middle of World War II, and even though he undoubtedly understood the gravity of the office he was accepting, it is doubtful that he thought he would be President of the United States within three months of taking the Oath of Office as Vice President.

“Harry, the President is dead.” When Eleanor Roosevelt called Truman to the White House to inform him of the president’s death, Truman asked if there was anything he could do for her, to which she famously replied, “Is there anything we can do for you? You are the one in trouble now.”

Shortly after being sworn in, President Truman said to a group of reporters, “Boys, if you ever pray, pray for me now. I don’t know if you fellas ever had a load of hay fall on you, but when they told me what happened yesterday, I felt like the moon, the stars, and all the planets had fallen on me.”

After a quick briefing of the top secret Manhattan Project preparing its first atomic bomb tests, of which Josef Stalin knew about through Russian spies long before the newly sworn in President of the United States, Harry Truman was deciding to drop atomic bombs on the Empire of Japan within the first four months of his presidency.

Now THAT is inheriting a mess, Mr. Obama.

What you did, Mr. President, was run for office claiming to be the most qualified man to sit in the Oval Office. This mess that you often refer to is the job you sought.

Compare Truman’s foreign policy “mess” with the crop of dust ups Obama faces, and the current president’s buck passing seems outright juvenile and embarrassing. Iraq today needs nothing more than a mopping up after the success of the American surge toward the end of the Bush presidency, and Afghanistan (though in dire need of a surge of its own) is totally within the grasp of victory over the next several months if the president ever chooses to take it seriously by acting like a Commander in Chief rather than a young Dalai Lama trying to prove to the world he actually earned his Nobel Peace Prize.

But no talk of foreign wars can compare to the silent wars fought here everyday on American streets. Greater than the wars on poverty and drugs combined, if only because it encapsulates both in its tangled web, the war on illegal immigration in this country has become no less than a war on human dignity.

Yet, illegal immigration in this country has become nothing more than political ping pong for Washington elitists far removed from human decency, freakishly consumed by their obsession with winning votes and power. These elitists make laws forbidding Latinos from becoming lawful citizens of the United States upon entry, and then they make laws that ask law enforcement to look the other way and pretend they don’t exist.

The result is an underground Shadowland — 13 million strong — a nation within our nation.

Resembling Al Capone’s years long Chicago crime spree, perpetrated by Prohibition driving the alcohol industry into the underworld, Mexican Coyotes transporting illegal immigrants into the United States through the modern day Underground Railroad have reduced the value of human beings searching for freedom to that of a trivial commodity for the meat packing industry, construction industry, and others looking to dodge the minimum wage demands of high-priced Americans.

By enacting the toughest immigration reform in the nation based on existing federal laws, Arizona Governor Jan Brewer chooses to obey the rule of the land by deporting illegal immigrants, thereby rejecting the notion of a Shadowland existing within our borders.

President Obama, who rejects current Federal immigration law but has yet to suggest reforming it, and who has yet to propose amnesty, seems far more adept at being a protester speaking truth to power than he is at being the leader of the free world or a spokesman for human rights. By default, the President’s inaction perpetuates the exploitation of illegal immigrants and the modern day Underground Railroad while his Vice President and the Speaker of the House simply wear bracelets in “protest” as if they are mere spectators.

Like a plantation owner sipping lemonade in his front porch rocking chair watching slaves do all the dirty work, President Obama sits in the Oval Office doing nothing to fix the immigration system while millions of Latinos work under brutal conditions “doing the jobs Americans don’t want to do,” all the while criticizing Governor Brewer for at least trying.

So much for being the ones we’ve been waiting for.

Harry Truman would be ashamed. So would Harriet Tubman.

Eight years ago, when Trent Lott picked up a butter knife at Strom Thurmond’s 100th birthday celebration and clinked his Scotch and soda to announce a speech in honor of the Centeniarian politician, the words that came out of his mouth were spontaneous, bloated with saccharine sentimentality, and 80 proof:

“I want to say this about my state: When Strom Thurmond ran for president, we voted for him. We’re proud of it. And if the rest of the country had followed our lead, we wouldn’t have had all these problems over all these years, either.”

Now that the political dust has settled after an exhaustive two-year presidential campaign, I can honestly admit to feeling no bitterness at the outcome.

First, there is something powerful about listening to the voice of the people. Collective opinion must always outweigh the individual. For this, I will always humbly concede defeat.

Second, John McCain is no more a remedy to the ills of the Republican Party than George W. Bush was. In fact, he is part of what is wrong with it. Having your picture taken with Ronald Reagan twenty-eight years ago in the Oval Office is no substitute for ‘The Gipper’ himself. (more…)

The fact that John McCain’s polling numbers have been in steady decline since the beginning of the financial meltdown a few weeks ago, without any serious offensive to make a comeback, leads me to believe that the McCain camp is up to something really big.

In the past, whenever McCain looked as if he were fading, his campaign under the steady leadership of Steve Schmidt would suddenly snap out of it and launch a massive attack.

In essence, the pattern of attack that McCain has consistently shown he prefers is one that was no doubt learned from five and a half years in the Hanoi Hilton: strength through the perception of weakness. (more…)

First, Bill Clinton compared the historical candidacy of Barack Obama with the other historical candidacy of Jesse Jackson. John McCain recently revealed in an interview with George Stephanopoulos that he supported the proposed amendment to the Arizona Constitution that would ban “preferential treatment” on the basis of “race, sex, color, ethnicity or national origin.” Barack Obama immediately fired back saying he was “disappointed” in McCain’s position.

“You know, the truth of the matter is, these are not designed to solve a big problem, but they’re all too often designed to drive a wedge between people,” Obama said, speaking to a conference of minority journalists.

With this statement, yet again, Barack Obama displays his concern with speeches over action — design over finished product. The sinister intentions of the architects of this referendum are about as relevant to the law as what they had for breakfast that morning or what color tie they were sporting. The truth of the matter is, Senator Obama, the proposed amendment advocates total equality — something you do not advocate as you pander to the minority voter. (more…)

Part of my problem with the media coverage of the Obama campaign has been its blatant hypocrisy toward dealing with the issue of racism in America. Somehow, white people can be racist, black people cannot. West Virginians are racist. South Carolinians are not.

In truth, anyone can be a racist. One does not have to utter racial slurs to qualify as a racist either. It’s what’s in your heart and mind that counts… Or in your college thesis. (more…)

The Marxist/Socialist premise is that success should be punished while the non-producer heaps the rewards. I can’t think of a single country in history that has succeeded by governing with those low standards. When Ronald Reagan took office 27 years ago the threat of a nuclear showdown between the U.S. and the Soviet Union was ubiquitous in the American psyche.

Part of the “national fear” was knowing hundreds of nuclear weapons were pointed at our heads, but the greater fear by far was the possibility of losing the Cold War and surrendering our liberties to Soviet-style Communism.

Make that: Almost no product.

Look on the back of a soda can, or a box of Twinkies, and you will find a federally mandated list of ingredients. In music, check out the latest releases by Lupe Fiasco or Ghostface Killah and you will see a parental advisory warning on the cover. In movies and television, look for a rating flashed before the credits. Video games are rated. Bags come with a suffocation warning. Small items are choking hazards. Coffee is hot. I’ve long held the suspicion that Bill Clinton’s “slip-ups” of the past few months - arguing with reporters and hecklers alike, wagging his finger at the camera on several occasions, resurrecting the Bosnia sniper story when it had all but died, comparing Obama with Jesse Jackson in South Carolina, etc. - has been nothing short of a brilliant political move on the part of the Clintons.

The MSM has, on many occasions, questioned whether Bill was working for or against his wife’s candidacy. The pundits have been all too eager to psychoanalyze the rantings of the former President as if he were a man on a downward slide of sanity. When Al Gore lost the presidency to George W. Bush nearly eight years ago, Democrats all across the country were outraged that their candidate was defeated despite winning the popular vote by over a half-million votes.

Today, when media darling Barack Obama looks like he will repeat the Bush role (more delegates, less votes), the uproar is nowhere to be found. Everyone is focused on the delegates. Nevermind that neither candidate will score enough delegates to secure the nomination. Nevermind that each candidate will require the assistance of the superdelegates to push him or her over the top. Nevermind the popular vote entirely… It’s all about the delegates. (more…)
